DJ Perspective: Myrtle Beach Hilton

From this DJ’s perspective:

The Myrtle Beach Hilton is a multi-faceted venue with a host of meeting rooms. NONE are segmented! That’s great! The Dunes Ballroom has one of the most impressive views in the Myrtle Beach area. On the 16th floor, with a wall of ceiling to floor windows overlooking the Atlantic, I most always point out that it looks like we’re on a cruise ship. All you can see is ocean! Though its a wide room, the acoustics are good at the center. If there’s a larger crowd in attendance, It’s feasible to provide wireless side speakers for better coverage, especially on the bar side where they customarily situate the wedding cake.

The main ballrooms on the mezzanine are standard banquet rooms with walls that are decently flat for projection. In contrast, the new Palisades Ballrooms have higher ceilings and the walls lend themselves better for gobo projection. The acoustics are good in both banquet areas and both are ideal for uplighting. Personally, I love the Palisades ballrooms because they’re on the ground level! Easy load in. Warning: Make sure there are no meetings going on adjacent to your wedding reception. It’s conceivable a noise conflict will ensue!

Wedding ceremonies are frequently carried out on the North Lawn which overlooks the ocean. Less frequently are they actually on the beach, though the Myrtle beach Hilton is situated in the unincorporated area in Horry County where there are no restrictions. Electrical power is readily available for North Lawn ceremonies and the officiant stands facing west, which means there’ll be a little less of a wind disturbance problem, though it’s far from eliminated, even with wind screens on the lapel mics.

The Myrtle Beach Hilton is overall DJ friendly and a great place to have your wedding reception.
